APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT RFB 390-
2012 FOR THE PURCHASE OF TREE MAINTENANCE
SERVICES
City Council to consider approval for the renewal of annual contracts for RFB 390-2012
with Arbor Masters Tree Service as the primary vendor and Preservation Tree Service
as the secondary vendor for the purchase of tree maintenance services.
Funding for this purchase is limited to the budgeted amount by each department in an
annual estimated amount of $275,000,00.

Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in
the Fort Worth Star -Telegram on June 21, 2012 and June 28, 2012. The bid was
opened publicly on July 17, 2012. The bid was issued through the eBid system. There
were 52 vendors notified of the bid. Two vendors submitted bids.
The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for tree maintenance services
for the Parks and Recreation Department and other various departments on an as -
needed basis. If approved, this will be for the first annual renewal of the four optional,
one-year renewals available.
Based on the evaluation of the bid by Purchasing and the Parks and Recreation
Department, it was determined that the award be made to Arbor Masters Tree Service
as the primary vendor and Preservation Tree Service as the secondary vendor to assure
availability if the primary vendor is unable to respond.
Arbor Masters Tree Service and Preservation Tree Service have agreed to renew with
no increase in pricing and have supplied these services to the City in the past with
successful results.
