SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT — STATE HIGHWAY
26 WATER LINE IMPROVEMENTS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider awarding the State Highway 26 Waterline Improvements
construction contract to Gin-Spen, Inc. in the amount of $593,366.00 for construction of
the State Highway 26 Water Line Improvements, authorize staff to execute said
contract, and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in Account # 200-48930-534-7-000013WA, 01 Utility Bonds and
Account# 200-48930-534-6-000010WA, Water Impact Fees.
BACKGROUND:
The project consists of approximately 9,720 feet of 8" and 12" water lines and
appurtenances. The project will relocate the existing water line and construct new water
line in advance of construction of the State Highway 26 roadway widening project by
TxDOT.
Eighteen bids were received on October 1, 2009 for the project with Gin-Spen, Inc. the
low bidder at $593,366.00. The engineers estimate was $986,870.50. Bids are as
follows:
