SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO PURCHASE ANTIQUE
STREET LAMPS FOR MAIN STREET
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to purchase nine antique street lamps from
The Lighting Alliance for installation on Main Street. The total of this purchase would be
$24,075.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in 178-78102-013 Capital Projects / Streets /Main Street/ Pedestrian
Improvement account.
BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government Code
Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (a) (7) (D) that provides a general exemption
from the bid process for purchases available from only one source and that contain captive
replacement parts or components for equipment. This purchase will match existing street
lamps currently in place at other City locations.
This request is to approve a resolution to purchase nine antique street lamps to provide
illumination on Main Street between Northwest Highway and Dallas Road. The street lamp
selected is one of Oncor's utility street lamp standards and will be similar to the period
ornamental lighting currently in place on Main Street. The sole source letter and street lamp
specifications are attached for review.
Staff recommends approval of the resolution to purchase the street lamps from The Lighting
Alliance in the total amount of$24,075.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF ANTIQUE
STREET LAMPS; DETERMINING THAT THE STREET
LAMPS ARE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID
CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to purchase nine antique street lamps
for installation on Main Street; and
WHEREAS, The Lighting Alliance is the local representative and sole provider for
the street lamps selected.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes City Staff to
purchase the street lamps for a total annual amount not to exceed $24,075.00.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to complete the purchase.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
