SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO ESTABLISH A CONTRACT WITH MEDICAL
EDGE HEALTHCARE GROUP, P.A. TO PROVIDE
FIREFIGHTER PHYSICALS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of an annual contract to Medical Edge Healthcare Group,
P.A. to provide medical physicals on an annual basis for the Fire Department. Annual
expenditures will be limited to the budgeted amount for this service.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 100-44540-210-3 General Fund/Professional
Services/Fire Department/ Fire Operations.
BACKGROUND:
This request is for approval to establish an annual contract for the Fire Department to
provide medical physicals on an annual basis. These physicals will be performed
according to the standards of NFPA 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupational
Medical Program for Fire Departments 2007 Edition.
Medical Edge Healthcare Group. P.A. (the "Association") is affiliated with Hogan
Medical, 1280 Main Street, Suite 100, Grapevine, Texas. The Association will within 30
days after the exams provide the Chief of the Department a "Pass/Fail Fitness for Duty
Assessment" with respect to each of its employees AND provide to the employee a
"Stop Troubles Results Report" which will contain results and other information arising
from the exam.
Staff recommends approval.
