HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 14 - Radar Units T I MI MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGE U ' j MEETING DATE: JUNE 2, 2009 t SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF OF RADAR UNITS THROUGH AN EXISTING INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT AND ESTABLISHED ANNUAL CONTRACT WITH THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider purchasing nine radar units for the Police Department through an existing interlocal agreement and established contract with the Houston Galveston Area Council. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 117-42281-209-2 Police Department Apparatus & Tools in the amount of$20,250. BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with the Houston Galveston Area Council as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102. The interlocal agreement will satisfy all bidding requirements under the Local Government Code. The Houston-Galveston Area Council has an existing contract with Emergency Vehicles of Texas. The nine radar units were approved for purchase during the budget process for this fiscal year. • The amount of the units is $2,250 for a total amount of$20,250. The radars are part of a current replacement program. As the patrol vehicles are replaced the radars are also upgraded and replaced with a radar unit with updated technology. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNATE TO PURCHASE RADAR UNITS THROUGH AN ESTABLISHED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102 to enter into a cooperative purchasing program agreement with other qualified entities in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, the Houston Galveston Area Council is a qualified purchasing cooperative program as authorized by Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, has established an Interlocal Agreement with the Houston Galveston Area Council and wishes to utilize established contracts meeting all State of Texas bidding requirements; and WHEREAS, the Houston Galveston Area Council has an established contract with Applied Concepts, Inc. for police radar units. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase of radar units from Applied Concepts, Inc., for a total cost not to exceed $20,250.00. Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the purchase of said vehicles. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 2nd day of June, 2009.
