HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06- Adopt-an-Area MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER OIL MEETING DATE: MAY 5, 2009 SUBJECT: ADOPT-AN-AREA PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION: The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and staff recommend the City Council consider approval of an Adopt-An-Area agreement with Girl Scout Troop #1435 for Kimball Road, from Silvercrest Lane to Lake Grapevine and the C. Shane Wilbanks Trail, from Snakey Lane to Silvercrest Lane. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board approved the agreement at the April 16, 2009 meeting. A copy of the agreement is attached for review. FUNDING SOURCE: Adopt-A-Road signage would be placed at both ends of the project area for the program. The cost of the signage is approximately $100 and would come from the Grounds Maintenance Account 100-42205-312-3. BACKGROUND: The proposed agreement is for a period of two years and requires the applicant to pick up litter a minimum of six times per year. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and staff recommend approval of the agreement.
