APPROVAL TO RENEW A CONTRACT FOR BID 329 -2010
WATER METERS
City Council to consider approval to renew a contract of Bid 329 -2090 for the purchase
of water meters for the Public Works Water Department from Hersey Meters and HD
Supply on an as- needed basis.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in account 100-14111-0000 (General
Fund/Warehouse inventory) in the amount of $23,000.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The contract was for an initial one -year
period with four, one -year renewal options. If renewed, this would be the second renewal
period.
The purpose of this bid was to establish fixed annual pricing for the purchase of various
types of water meters and registers maintained in warehouse inventory and called for on
an as- needed basis by the Public Works Department.
Bids were issued to four vendors with all four vendors responding. Bids were submitted
for 15 items. HD Supply was lowest on eight items and Hersey Meters was lowest on
seven items. Hersey Meters and HD Supply have provided this service to the City of
Grapevine in the past with satisfactory results and have agreed to renew the contract
with an increase by Hersey of 6.4% due to the rise in cost of raw materials. (See
attached spreadsheets).
Staff recommends approval.
