AWARD OF ANNUAL CONTRACT RENEWAL OF BID 291 -2007
FOR VARIOUS AGGREGATE MATERIALS
City Council to consider an annual contract renewal of Bid 291 -2007 to TXI Industries
Inc., Hanson Aggregates, U.S. Silica Company, Big Sandy Sand Company, TXI Inc,
Trinity Materials Inc., and Top Way Properties for various aggregate materials. Annual
expenditures will be limited to the budgeted amount for this service.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds will be limited to the budgeted amount for the following accounts:
325 - 48899 - 415 -06 -0008 (Lease Fund/ Cap. Equip. Plan/ Infrastructure. / New Streets)
210- 42205 -340 -2 (Lake Enterprise Fund/ Grounds Maintenance/ Course Maintenance)
100 -42205 -312 -3 (General Fund/ Parks Maintenance/ Chemical Supplies)
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in
the Fort Worth Star Telegram on June 17, 2007 and June 24, 2007. The bid was opened
publicly June 29, 2007.
The purpose of this id was to establish annual fixed pricing for 16 various types of
aggregate materials required on an as needed basis via delivery or pick up by the Street
Division and Parks Department.
To insure the availability of supply, Council approved primary contracts to the lowest
bids received for each item. The contracts were for an initial one -year period with
options to renew for four additional one -year periods. If renewed, this would be the
fourth and final one -year renewal period.
All vendors have provided this service in the past with satisfactory results and agreed to
renew the contract with a 2.1% additional change in pricing due to increases in raw
materials.
Staff recommends approval of renewal of contracts.
