Canvass the December 8, 2015 Runoff Election to fill the unexpired term for City Council
Place 1, certify the results and take any necessary action.

On November 3, 2015, a Special Election was held to fill the unexpired term for City
Council Place 1. No candidates received a majority of votes during that Election, therefore
City Council called a Special Election to be held on December 8, 2015 between the two
candidates who received the most votes.
Early Voting was conducted November 23 — December 4 and the runoff election was held
on Tuesday, December 8, with citizens casting a total of 1,471 ballots (4.95%) for the
following candidates:
City Council, Place 1 Christian Ross 474 (32.29%)
Paul Slechta 994 (67.71%)
Under Votes 3(0.20%)
By adoption of the proposed certification, Paul Slechta is declared duly elected to the
unexpired term for City Council, Place 1. The unofficial results and Canvass Certification
are attached.
The swearing in ceremony for Mr. Slechta will take place January 5, 2016.

WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of an election held on the 8th
day of December, 2015 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named official, and it
appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election
1,471 valid and legal votes; and
WHEREAS, each of the candidates in said election received the following votes:

WHEREAS, the Grapevine City Council hereby certifies the above election results
tabulation to be true and correct; and
WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites for the adoption of this certification have been
met, including but not limited to the Election Code, Local Government Code, and the
Open Meetings Act; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that the approval of this certification
is in the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE,• OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE,
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct
and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was
given in accordance with law; and that said election was held in accordance with law; and
that the following named person was duly elected to the office indicated:
Council Place 1 ........................ Paul Slechta
Section 3. That the said above person is hereby declared duly elected to said
respective office, subject to the taking of the oath and filing bond as provided by the laws
of this State and the ordinances of this City.
Section 4. That this certification shall become effective immediately from and
after the date of its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 16th day of December, 2015.
