SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF A QUOTE FOR A NEW
PUBLIC ADDRESS SOUND SYSTEM WITH INSTALLATION
AND TESTING FOR THE DOVE POOL AQUATIC CENTER
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of a quote for a new public address
sound system with installation and testing for the Dove Park Aquatic Center from
Epicenter Productions.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 174 -74015 -070 -000 (Aquatics PCMF) in the amount not
to exceed $26,385.80.
BACKGROUND:
The Parks and Recreation Department is currently renovating the Dove Pool facility into
a larger, family friendly interactive aquatic facility. The public address system being
requested for approval would replace the current system as well as serve multiple
purposes for the new facility. The department anticipates the new amenities and
attractions will result in larger crowds requiring a need to quickly and clearly
communicate to patrons throughout the facility and the adjoining spray ground. The
system would also allow the City to have audio flexibility to use for programs such as
water aerobics or private rentals.
Quotes were taken in accordance with the City's Purchasing Policy. Quotes were
received from three vendors.
Quotes Received:
Epicenter Productions $26,385.80
Ford Audio -Video Systems, LLC $33,459.37
StarPower $51,854.34
Based on the 3 quotes received, Epicenter Productions was the lowest bidder meeting
January 10, 2013 (9:31:20 AM)
specifications, therefore, is the recommended vendor for the award.
Staff recommends approval.
