HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Masonry Construction and Repair ServicesirEns #.1/_ MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JANUARY 15, 2013 SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR MASONRY CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR SERVICES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the renewal of an annual contract Bid #377 -2012 to Austin Masonry Construction Inc. as primary vendor and Chibli Stone Works as the secondary vendor for masonry construction and repair services. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this purchase are available in account 174 -74015 -060 -000 (Street Maintenance/ Capital Replacement/ Park Signage Replacement) and 121 - 48840- 312 -13- 000026 (Quality of Life) in the estimated amount of $80,000. BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on December 15 and December 22, 2011. The bid was opened publicly on January 13, 2012. There were 104 vendors notified of the bid. Bid packets were sent to ten vendors that requested it. Two bids were received. The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for construction and repair services that will be required on various masonry structures on an as- needed basis. The term is for one year with four optional, one year renewals. This would be the first renewal of the four available. Construction and repairs would typically involve pavilion columns, bridge abutments, retaining walls, signs, various brickwork, and surfaces composed of pavers. Austin Masonry Construction Inc. was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder and Chibli Stone Works was next lowest. Staff recommends renewing the annual primary contract and the secondary contract to assure availability. Staff recommends approval. January 10, 2013 (9:23:31 AM)
