Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Senior Citizen
Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing
a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may
address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either
before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the
Chairman or upon the consent of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board in accordance
with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Senior Citizen Advisory Board is restricted in
discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments.

The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Senior Citizens Advisory Board met January
3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas
with the following members present, to -wit:

Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff:

Nadia Gentry, Active Adults Supervisor
Roger Jones called the meeting to order at 1:01 pm.
An invocation was led by Roger Jones.
Citizen Comments:
Joan Thomas: Spoke on The REC safety and housing availability in Grapevine.
Approval of Minutes:
A motion was made to approve the October 4, 2022 minutes.

Presentations:
Nadia Gentry provided an update on Active Adults. Updates included Active Adult
Christmas Party, upcoming events, insurance membership renewals, Collette
Vacations, February class registration, and AARP Tax Aid.
Chris Smith provided an update on Parks & Recreation recent events and highlights.
Updates included introduction of Andrea Tredaway, the passing of Ken Anderson, storm
recovery efforts, warming shelter activation plans, and staff awards.
Miscellaneous:
Duff O'Dell provided a City Council update, which included Christmas events and
attractions, Master Made Feed, tornado response, COVID numbers, and opening of
new businesses.
Teri Rhodes was absent; therefore, no housing authority update was given
Christine Szymaszek provided a GRACE update, which included GRACE food baskets,
Christmas Cottage, GRACE services for seniors, and 2023 updates.
Isabelle Boyd provided an Active Adult Laison update, which included Thanking Active
Adult staff for the Christmas Party and field trips and the need of seniors for buses to be
repaired or new ones supplied.
Chris Smith provided an update on Parks & Recreation, which included Carol of Lights
recap, Holiday Drone Show recap, and Christmas decoration breakdown process.
