HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 15 - Emergency Repair - PumpFROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGE MEETING DATE: AUGUST 20, 2013 SUBJECT: APPROVAL • A RESOLUTION FOR THE EMERGENCY REPAIR THAT WAS MADE ON THE HIGH SERVICE #3 PUMP AT THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT City Council consider adopting a resolution authorizing and ratifying the emergency purchase of repair services for the high service #3 pump at the water treatment plant that was made from Pierce Pump Company. 1111N, I el 1g, [M-1011 U M Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 200-43360-534-0 (Utility Fund/ PCMF) in the amount not to exceed $15,565.06. Water Treatment Plant high service pump #3 experienced a motor failure at the water treatment plant which supplies potable water to the distribution system. Both pump and motor components of the unit were pulled for inspection and evaluated for repairs. Upon inspection and examination, the pump showed no major issues and will only require replacement of the normal wear and tear replacement parts. Since it is a system component, it has to be repaired at the same time as the motor therefore deeming it as an emergency purchase. The rebuild of the high service pump #3 is required as soon as possible to bring the pump back to within design specifications and provide continued reliable delivery of treated water into the distribution system. Pierce Pump Company is a recommended manufacturer's repair center and was contacted for teardown, inspection and repair of the pump. An emergency purchase order had been issued to Pierce Pump Company for this service repair on July 24, 2013 for the water treatment plant. Staff recommends approval. 10:57:21 AM 7/25/2013 RESOLUTION NO. €R40vcy 4-phip A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO APPROVE AND RATIFY THE EMERGENCY REPAIR ON THE HIGH SERVICE #3 PUMP THAT WAS MADE IN JULY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 252.022 (a) (3) for an emergency repair of the high service #3 pump; and WHEREAS, the emergency repair was necessary because of unforeseen damage to the raw water pump. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the emergency repair from Pierce Pump Company that was made for the high service #3 pump at the water treatment plant on July 23, 2013 in the amount not to exceed $15,565.06. Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the emergency repair that was made on said raw water pump. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 20th day of August, 2013. ATTEST:
