HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Needs Assessment for Various Fire StationsMEMO TO: MEETING DATE: SUBJECT RECOMMENDATION: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MARCH 15, 2016 APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT FOR NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR VARIOUS FIRE STATIONS City Council to consider approval for a needs assessment contract to Brown Reynolds Watford Architects for various fire stations. FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 174-74004-118-007 (Permanent Capital Program) for an estimated budgeted amount of $30,680.00. With the Public Safety Building opening in the spring of 2017, the fire administration side of the current building will be vacated. This needs assessment will help to ensure we repurpose the building in the best way possible, maximizing every square foot. The current fire station has cramped quarters for the personnel, does not include gender specific restroom facilities, nor does it meet ADA requirements. The Fire Department along with the Building Facilities division will coordinate with the architectural firm to ensure we have a plan of action for the existing building upon it being vacated by Fire Administration. We have also included a needs assessment for Firehouse 4 so that staff can assess updating the station to include gender specific restroom facilities. Staff recommends approval. CH
