SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE FOR A UTILITY VEHICLE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote for a utility
vehicle from Grapevine Kawasaki.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 325-48860-210-03-16
Apparatus and Equipment) in an amount not to exceed $23,509.50.
This purchase is for the replacement of Medic 10 which is at the end of it's life with a low
profile, ATV EMS vehicle. Parks, trails and nature areas are important areas of recreation
for citizens and visitors alike. The Fire Department is charged with responding to incidents
within these areas and many times it is difficult to access these areas with traditional
methods, therefore delaying care to these individuals. This replacement vehicle will allow
the FD to respond to citizens and visitors in a safer, quicker and more efficient manner.
This acquisition will also enhance the response at festivals, special events and everyday
responses within the urban interface areas of our city.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three vendors submitted
quotations as noted below. Grapevine Kawasaki submitted the lowest quote.

Metro Golf Cars $25,382.00
Freedom Powersports $27,754.91
Staff recommends approval.
