HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Insurance ServicesMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: -BELOW,RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: APRIL 19, 2016 SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR INSURANCE CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR GROUP HEALTH BENEFITS RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval to renew an annual contract with McGriff, Seibels & Williams Insurance Services for insurance consultant services for group health benefits. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 100-44540-109-1 (Professional Services) in the estimated annual amount of $50,000. The insurance consultants oversee our self-insured medical plan along with all other employee health benefits. They assist staff with strategic benefit planning, benefit designs, data analysis, and all areas of plan compliance. McGriff, Seibels & Williams helped design strategies to contain costs from FY 2015 to FY 2016, which resulted in a 4% increase year over year compared to an 8% national average increase. The McGriff, Seibels & Williams Insurance Services contract was approved in 2015 for one year with three optional, one year renewals. This request for approval is the first of three renewals available. Request for proposals were taken in accordance with Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252.022. RFP 424-2015 for Insurance Consultant Services for Group Health Benefits was issued and opened publicly on February 11, 2015. The RFP public notice was placed in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on January 8 and 15, 2015. Staff recommends approval.
