The City of Grapevine Open Space Committee convened in regular meeting
at 3:00 p.m. on this the 14th day of August, 1985, with the following
members present to wit:
Sue Burgtorf
Ron Cook
Tommy Hardy, Director of Community Development; John Ball and Clayton
Sanders of Creek Crossing Development; and Gerrie Taylor were also
present.
Chairman Sue Burgtorf called the meeting to order.
Under Action Items, the following business was discussed and acted
upon.
CREEK CROSSING ADDITION
Mr. Hardy presented the open space proposed for the Creek Crossing
Addition which contains 36.608 acres with 129 single family lots. The
addition is located on Heritage Avenue just east of the Town Park
Addition. The proposed park dedication is on the north end of the
tract located adjacent to Heritage Avenue consisting of some 50,000
square feet, plus or minus. Mr. Hardy informed the committee that he
had talked to Mr. Conklin concerning the proposed open space
dedication. Mr. Conklin stated that he was against the proposed
dedication because it was located adjacent to Heritage Avenue which is
a Type B Major Arterial and half of the creek which would run along
the east boundary of proposed Park which would interfere with the
development of the park.
Clayton Sanders stated that the piece of property was centrally
located and a beautiful area for a park.
Mr. Hardy stated that the City did not want developers to use out
parcels of the subdivision for the use of park areas. The open space
dedicated should be parcels that would serve the community and
neighborhood.
John Ball stated that in order to keep the proposed location of the
park, that installing a fence and parking area along Heritage Avenue
would not be a problem.
Mr. Ball also stated that the area they intended for a park could not
very well be utilized for residential lots and if so the lots would
face off of Heritage Avenue.
The Open Space Committee agreed unanimously to recommend the open
space indicated on the Creek Crossing plat not be accepted by the City
Council because of its location adjacent to Heritage Avenue and having
half the creek on the property.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Sue
Burgtorf and seconded by Ron Cook. All present voted aye. The
meeting was adjourned.
