ADJOURNMENT I I lir I Board of Directors Meeting June 15, 1995 Page 2 of 3 OLD BUSINESS Budget Update: Mr. Gary Blagg reviewed budgets with Mr. Paul W. McCallum and Ms. Fran Fairchild earlier. He reported that the numbers this year were conservative. Mr. Blagg commented that only one item stood out. The Lumis contract of $250.00 a month for the security purpose of transfering daily cash deposits from the Convention Center to the bank when at the most only $400.00 is being transfered in cash. The budget goes before Council on June 21 and 22. NEW BUSINESS Tourism/Economic Development Committee Appointments: Last board meeting Mr. Greg Saunders suggested that there be a total economic development package presented by members of the CVB Board of Directors to a Council Worshop at the same time the PKF Study results are presented. Mr. Bigbie appointed Mr. Greg Saunders to chair the committee. Mr. Bruce Crouch and Mr. Phil Parker will also be on the committee. SALES AND MARKETING REPORT Sales and Marketing Highlights: Paul W. McCallum reported that the Main Street Days Fam was the largest ever. It has generated four hot leads to date. The number of site inspections are growing steadly resulting in increased bookings. The Convention and Visitors Bureau held three writer tours that led to publicity in metro, state, and national publications. Mr. McCallum commented on how La Buena Vida adds to the Grapevine experience. The Visitor Information Center had a soft opening during Main Street Days. An official opening date will be set when the parking lot and landscaping is completed. EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS REPORT • Palace Update: Mr. McCallum reported that the Palace Theater Gala, chaired by Fala Crouch, was a successful event. The Gala was to launch the fund raising for the Palace restoration. Mr. McCallum went over the plans for the Palace restoration. The Liberty Park Plaza final designs of the fountain are in. In the next couple of months the bidding process will start and it will go in front of Council. The Heritage Center landscaping will continue as follows. Looking for alternatives to the black top that was originally planned. The Sharecropper's House is on site. M.
