SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE FOR COMPUTER AIDED
DISPATCH SOFTWARE SYSTEM
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to declare Tiburon, Inc. a sole source
vendor for the purchase of service and maintenance for the computer aided dispatch
software system in an amount not to exceed $23,518.00
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in the following account:
100-44540-101-2 General Fund/MIS/Professional Services.......................$23,518.00
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (A).
This request is for the purchase of maintenance and support of the current software
modules that operate the Police computer aided dispatch system. Due to the fact that
the CAD System will be replaced, the contract will be for only one year from the date of
approval.
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF AN EXTENDED
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACT, DETERMINING
THAT THE ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE
SOURCE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Tiburon, Inc., is the sole provider of service and maintenance for Police
computer aided dispatch, message switch and corrections management system software
modules; and
WHEREAS, City of Grapevine Staff have been unable to locate anyone except
Tiburon, Inc., who provide this service and maintenance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of service and maintenance for the software modules from Tiburon, Inc. not to exceed
$23,518.00.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of the authorized equipment, installation and
training services provided in Section 2.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 6th day of June, 2000.
