SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF A
TOSHIBA TELEPHONE SYSTEM FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT
FACILITIES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to declare ICS Telephones, Inc. a sole
source for the purchase of a Toshiba telephone system in an amount not to exceed
$18,093.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this purchase are available in the following account:
100-44525-210-1 General Fund/Fire Administration/Utilities ....................$18,093.00
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (A).
This request is for the purchase of a Toshiba telephone system from ICS Telephones,
Inc. for all Fire Department facilities. This vendor has the Toshiba system installed in
other City facilities and this purchase would be compatible with our current system.
Staff recommends approval.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF A TOSHIBA
TELEPHONE SYSTEM FROM ICS TELEPHONES, INC. FOR
CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT FACILITIES; DETERMINING THAT
THE ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, ICS Telephones, Inc., is the current provider for telephone service to
other City facilities and is the sole provider of a telephone system that is compatible with
the current system that is installed; and
WHEREAS, City of Grapevine Staff have been unable to locate anyone except ICS
Telephones, Inc. who can install a system that is compatible with the current system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the
purchase, installation, and operational training for the telephone system from ICS
Telephones, Inc. not to exceed $18,093.00.
Section 3. That the City Manger, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of the authorized equipment, installation and
training services provided in Section 2.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 20th day of June, 2000.
