SUBJECT: WORKSHOP / CHURCH STREET ALTERNATIVES
Public Works Staff and HDR Consultant Engineers will present, for Council
consideration, alternative roadway proposals for the reconstruction of Church Street
between Hudgins and Wall approved in the 1998 G.O. Bond Election package.
The two principal alternatives will entail:
1. a rural section with flush ribbon curbs, roadside ditches and some
underground drainage beneath the street and crossing from east to west to
Morehead Branch, and
2. a more urban section with upright stone curbs, an enclosed drainage
system, and sidewalks .
Staff will discuss ease of construction, adjacent property impacts, right-of-way needs
and pedestrian access with each alternative.
