PUBLIC HEARING — 26TH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (CDBG)
City Council conduct a Public Hearing to receive input relative to the proposed 26th year
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program continuing the roadway
improvements to Smith Street between Texas Street and College Street funded in the 25th
year program, and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
The City of Grapevine is proposing not to contribute any City funds for this project. The
funding will be the amount provided through the Community Development Block Grant
(CDBG) Program.
The scope of the project is to reconstruct the remainder of Smith Street not funded by the
25th year CDBG funding. The estimated cost for this phase of the project is $168,785.
We are uncertain of the total amount of CDBG funds that will be available from this 26th
- year's program. If insufficient funds are allocated for the 26th year by the CDBG, then the
remainder of the cost will be funded by funds from the 27th year program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The proposed project consists of reconstructing the 400 block, one-half of the 500 block
and the intersections of Franklin and Worth Streets with Smith Street. This area is
located in the Original Town of Grapevine bounded by Northwest Highway, Dooley Street,
Dallas Road and Main Street, designated as CDBG Target Area #1.
This project is a continuation of last year's CDBG program funding, the reconstruction of
Smith Street (300 block and one-half of the 500 block). Last year's CDBG project was
submitted as the reconstruction of Smith Street (300 and 500 block), but based on
Tarrant County 25th year CDBG funding ($77,000) only about 1 '/2 blocks can be
constructed. This 26th year CDBG funding application is for completion of the
reconstruction of Smith Street including the intersections at Frankin and Worth Streets.
These improvements will contribute to the upgrade of the area by providing an improved
roadway surface for Smith Street. Next year's funding will either be for waterline
rehabilitation or the continuing funding for the reconstruction of Smith Street.
