HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Horse and Carriage Service// ITEM # � MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER /�% MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 1, 2000 SUBJECT: HORSE AND CARRIAGE SERVICE IN HISTORIC DISTRICT RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider renewal of a contract with Olde Tyme Carriage Company for horse and carriage service in portions of the downtown historic district. BACKGROUND: In December of 1998 Council first approved a contract allowing Olde Tyme Carriage Company to operate within the boundaries of Dooley Street, Wall Street, Church Street and Hudgins Street. Originally, the vendor used area behind the gazebo for loading and unloading. In fall of 1999 the vendor was granted permission to operate on Main Street on a trial basis. To date, there have not been complaints from residents, businesses or patrons. The new contract allows for Main Street routing to continue. The required time and days of operation would remain the same: Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Other hours would be optional. Operation between 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday would be prohibited as would operation on Festival grounds. Staff recommends approval. January 26, 2000 (10:03AM)
