SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID NUMBER 40-1999, HYDRAULIC RESCUE
TOOL
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of a contract for the lowest and best bid meeting City
specifications to Casco Industries for two hydraulic rescue tools and associated
hardware in the amount of $41,458.00. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for
review.

BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021, 252.0215, and 252.022.
This bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on
January 13, 2000 and January 20, 2000.
The purpose of this bid was to establish the lowest and best price for two hydraulic
rescue tools and associated hardware for the Fire Department as approved by Council
during the budget process. The rescue tools will be used during emergency operations.
Bids were sent to five vendors with two vendors responding. Casco Industries was the
lowest and best bid and met all of the required specifications. After a review of the
pricing received, the Fire Department recommended that items 1,2,3,6,7, and 8 be
accepted due to budget considerations. Items 4,5, and 9 are part of the associated
hardware and not required for the operation of the system. Attached is a copy of the
department's recommendation.
Staff recommends approval.
