SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR A MAINTENANCE
CONTRACT FOR VARIOUS SOFTWARE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to declare the Texas Department of
Information Resources a sole source for a license/maintenance agreement to support
Novell, Groupwise, Zenworks, Border Manager and NDS Software packages in an
amount not to exceed $18,281.83

BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (A).
This is a license/maintenance renewal for Novell, Groupwise, Zenworks, Border
manager and NDS software packages that currently support the City's Internal and
External Network system. The original agreement is with the Texas Department of
Information Resources under a State contract.
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF A
LICENSE/MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT; DETERMINING
THAT THE ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE
SOURCE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Information Resources, is the sole provider
of this license/maintenance agreement; and
WHEREAS, City of Grapevine Staff have been unable to locate anyone except the
Texas Department of Information Resources who produce this license/maintenance
agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of a license and maintenance agreement to support the City's computer network system
in an amount not to exceed $18,281.83.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of the license/maintenance agreement provided
in Section 2.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 15th day of February, 2000.
