PALACE THEATRE ROOFING, STRUCTURAL STEEL ERECTION,
AND DRYWALL/METAL STUDS BID REJECTION
Staff recommends the City Council reject the structural steel erection bids, roofing bids,
and drywall/metal stud bids opened on February 3, 2000, and take any other necessary
action.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Staff has reviewed the bids for Palace Theatre Construction submitted on February 3,
2000, and determined that potential cost savings may be realized if certain bids are
rejected and re -bid. The following bids appear to be too high:
• Structural Steel Erection
• Roofing _
• Drywall/Metal Studs
Staff has discussed the bids with subcontractors and discovered that there was some
confusion due to the complexity of the plans. Staff is currently working with potential
bidders to clarify any questions they may have in an effort to lower the cost of the project.
