MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGEFV V,W MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 20, 2001 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF COMPUTERS FOR THE LIBRARY RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider a resolution authorizing the purchase of 39 computers and associated hardware from Able Electronics in the amount of $66,920.00. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this project are available in account: 177-42281-012-313 General Facility Capital Projects 2001 "A„ Bond Series.............................................................$57,100.00 326-42281-101-3-0004 Technology Fund/Dept. Purchases/ Replacements/Apparatus & Tools .............................................$ 9,820.00 BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made under the State of Texas Qualified Information Systems Vendor Catalog Program as authorized by Texas Government Code, Title 10, Subtitle D, Chapter 2157. In accordance with the above referenced Texas Government Code quotations were requested from four Qualified Information Systems Vendors with three QISV vendors responding. Able Electronics provided the lowest and most responsive proposal. A bid tabulation is attached for review. The Library will use these computers as part of the Library expansion project to replace existing computers that are over three years old and to expand staff and public computers in phase 1 of the new facility. Approximately 20 additional computers will be purchased prior to the opening of Phase 2 of the Library. Staff recommends approval. February 15, 2001 (9:19AM) RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE PURCHASING PROGRAMS OF THE STATE PURCHASING AND GENERAL SERVICES COMMISSION FOR CERTAIN ITEMS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, pursuant to the authority granted by Texas Government Code, Title 10, Subtitle D, Chapter 2157, desires to participate in the described purchasing programs of the State Purchasing and General Services Commission; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, is of the opinion that participation in these programs will be highly beneficial to the taxpayers of this City through the anticipated savings to be realized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City of Grapevine, Texas, does request the State Purchasing and General Services Commission under the Qualified Information Systems Vendor Program to include its stated need for: Quantity Description 39 Ea Intel P3-600 Personal Computers 26 Ea Computer Monitors 23 Ea Computer Keyboards 11 Ea Laser Printers 6 Ea 8 Channel Switch Boxes on the commission's Qualified Information Systems Vendor Program (QISV), whereby the City of Grapevine may be allowed to purchase these items from the QISV program. Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee, is authorized and directed to sign and deliver all necessary requests and other documents in connection therewith for and on behalf of the City of Grapevine.
