SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF CRIME ANALYSIS SOFTWARE FOR THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider a resolution authorizing the purchase of a Crime Analysis
Software Package for the Police Department from The Omega Group in the amount of
$39,440.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
325-48860-000-0-0003 Lease Fund/Machinery & Equipment Note `00..........$39,440.00
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made as a sole source purchase under the State of Texas Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Section 252.022 (7) (D).
The purchase of this software package was approved in the current budget. The
software is a crime analysis interface between the geographic information system and
crime report databases. The package enables the Police Department to better store and
analyze crime data for the City.
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF A SOFTWARE
CRIME ANALYSIS PACKAGE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE
SOURCE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to purchase a software crime analysis
package as a sole source; and
WHEREAS, The Omega Group is the sole provider of the software package that is
protected by copyright.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of the software package for a total not to exceed the annual budgeted amount of
$39,440.00.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 6th day of March, 2001.
