SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BID 82-2001, ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
ASPHALT MATERIAL
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to Consider award of an annual contract to Southern Asphalt & Petroleum.
Annual contract expenditures will be limited to the amount approved in the 2001 budget.
FUNDING SOURCE:
174-43301-090-000 St. Maint./Cap. Replacement/Trans. Infrast. Maint.....$25,000
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021, 252.0215, and 252.022.
This bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on
January 18, 2001 and January 25, 2001.
The purpose of this bid was to set fixed pricing for the purchase of asphalt material for
the Street Division. The bid was sent to six vendors with two vendors responding. The
bid is for an initial one-year period with an option to renew for two additional one-year
periods.
Southern Asphalt & Petroleum submitted the lowest bid and met all requirements and
specifications of the bid.
Staff recommends approval.
