SUBJECT: COUNCIL MEETING DATE CHANGE
RECOMMENDATION:
Consider moving the August 7, 2001 City Council meeting to Monday, August 6, 2001.
BACKGROUND:
"National Night Out Against Crime", sponsored by the National Townwatch Association
in conjunction with local police departments, is held on the first Tuesday of August each
year. To avoid conflict with the regularly scheduled Council meeting, Staff recommends
moving the meeting to the previous night, Monday, August 6. This change would allow
Council to interact with citizens, neighborhood associations, and neighborhood crime
watch committees relative to community policing and crime prevention.
