SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO RATIFY
STAFF'S ACTION TO OBTAIN A TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY
AT THE SILVER LAKE CAMPGROUND
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider a resolution to ratify staff's action in authorizing a topographical
survey on the west side of the Silver Lake Campground and to approve a contract with
Moak Surveyors, Inc. for the complete survey for a total cost of $20,600.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds to pay for the topographical survey will come from the Lake Parks Professional
Services Account 119-44540-312-9.
BACKGROUND:
This request is to approve a complete survey of the Silver Lake Campground for
improvements as approved by Council at September 21St Council meeting and to ratify
staff's action in authorizing the contractor to start the survey on the west side of the
campground in order for a timely completion of the project. The west side of the
campground will include most of the improvements approved by Council in the five-year
development plan.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board approved staff's action to authorize Moak
Surveyors, Inc. to begin the survey at the November 18, 2004 meeting. The Board and
staff recommend the City Council approve the resolution to ratify staff's action in
authorizing the survey in the total amount of $20,600.
This procurement was made as a professional service as allowed by Local Government
Code 252.022 (a) (4).

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, RATIFYING THE ACTION OF STAFF
IN AUTHORIZING A TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY FOR THE
SILVER LAKE CAMPGROUND AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine approved 25 -year lease
agreements with the Corps of Engineers for approximately 770 acres of parkland at Lake
Grapevine including the Silver Lake Campground; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine approved a five-year
development plan of the 770 acres, including improvements to the Silver Lake
Campground; and
WHEREAS, before any design work can be done at the Silver Lake Campground,
a topographical survey was necessary; and
WHEREAS, in order to expedite the process, staff at the City of Grapevine
authorized the firm of Moak Surveyors, Inc. to begin the topographical survey.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine ratifies the action taken
by staff to authorize a topographical survey of Silver Lake Campground in the amount of
$20,600.00.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the contract for the topographical survey.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 7th day of December, 2004.
