HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 13 - Concrete FenceITEM �� 13 �..am% MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER 0 MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 7, 2004 SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID NUMBER 208-2005, CONCRETE FENCE RECOMMENDATION: City Council consider awarding bid 208-2005 to PremierCrete Products for the construction of a concrete fence at the service center in the total amount of $72,000.00, authorize staff to execute the necessary documents, and take any necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this contract are available in the following accounts: 178-78101-014 Capital Projects-Streets/Dove East/North Main Construction..$96,000 BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in the Grapevine Sun on October 14, 2004 and October 21, 2004. The purpose of this bid is to establish competitive pricing for the construction of approximately 1,600 linear feet of concrete fence as a continuation of the concrete fence at the Municipal Service Center and along Dove Loop. The concrete fence will be constructed atop an earthen berm, which has been constructed along the western right- of-way of Dove Loop. The construction of this fence is part of the overall mitigation plan necessary as a result of the construction of the Dove Loop project. The fence will help screen any unsightly areas along Dove Loop and was approved by Council for construction in this year's budget process. Invitations to Bid were issued to seven vendors with three vendors responding. The lowest bid received was from PremierCrete Products. PremierCrete installed the existing fence and met all of the required specifications of this bid. The bid tabulation is attached for review. Staff recommends approval. November 30, 2004 (9:27AM)
