SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF PARK EQUIPMENT
THROUGH THE TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT PURCHASING
COOPERATIVE PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of the purchase of playground, bench and bleacher
equipment at Oak Grove Baseball Field and the playground at Yorkshire Meadows Park
from Southwest Parks and Playground in the total amount of $47,173.71.
FUNDING:

BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be under the Interlocal Cooperation Act, Chapter 791, (Texas
Local Government Code) that states that any entity participating through an interlocal
agreement satisfies all bidding requirements under State law. Council approved an
interlocal agreement with the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative and
participation in the Cooperative's annual agreements during the Council meeting on
September 18, 2001. The Texas Association of School Boards administers the program
and both the Texas Municipal League and the Texas Association of Counties sponsor
the program. Staff will make this purchase through the Cooperative's e-commerce
Internet Web site at www.buyboard.com.
This purchase is for playground equipment to be installed at Yorkshire Meadows Park
and for benches and bleachers to be installed at Oak Grove Baseball Field. Attached is
a copy of the equipment list and pricing.
The playground equipment at Yorkshire Meadows and the benches and bleachers at
Oak Grove Baseball Field are currently out of date and do not meet ADA compliance.
The new equipment will meet ADA standards. This equipment is part of a systematic
replacement of old and/or outdated playground and athletic field equipment.
The Cooperative solicited bids for this equipment and awarded a contract to Southwest
Parks and Playground. The total amount of this purchase is $47,173.71.

Staff recommends approval of the purchase from Southwest Parks and Playground
through the City's existing interlocal contract with the Texas Local Government
Purchasing Cooperative.
