HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 08 - Adopt a Road/Park Programd17M on 9- 1 MENTO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, ACTING CITY MANAGER V— MEETING DATE: SEPTEMBER 6, 2005 SUBJECT: ADOPT-A-ROAD/PARK PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION: The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and staff recommend the City Council consider approval of Adopt -A -Park agreements with MB & Kathleen Morris for C. J. Hutchins Park and with (Robert) Buck Buchanan and Georjean Sheriff for Lakeview Park. The Board and staff also recommend the City Council approve an Adopt -A -Road agreement with Kathleen & Mike Morris, The Telephone Connection, for Ruth Wall Street, from the back entrance of the Gaylord Texan to Bushong Road. The applications are attached for Council review. FUNDING SOURCE: Adopt -A -Road signage will be placed at the subject sites. The cost of the signs is approximately $200 and would come from the Grounds Maintenance Account 100- 42205-312-3. BACKGROUND: The proposed agreements are for a period of two years and require the applicants to pick up litter a minimum of six times per year. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board approved the agreements at the August 18, 2005 meeting. If approved by the City Council, the City will have a total of 33 active Adopt-A-Road/Park programs.
