SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC FOUNDATIONS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of the purchase of ten traffic foundations for the Traffic
Division in a total amount of $18,150.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 174-74015-052 (St Maintenance/Cap
Replacement/Landscaping.......................................................................$50,000
BACKGROUND:
Staff solicited three written quotations for this purchase. House Bill 197 raised the formal
bid limit requirement from $15,000 to $25,000. City Purchasing Policy requires at least
three written quotations for purchases between $3,000 and $25,000. Advertisements are
not required.
The contract involves installation of 10 foundations at various locations on Main Street
between Northwest Highway and Dallas Road. The foundations are for poles that will be
used to attach christmas decorations. The poles can also be used to hang banners in
the future. Once the contractor installs the foundations, City staff will install the poles
and do the necessary electrical work. The project is expected to be completed by the
end of November, in time to attach the Christmas decorations.
In accordance with City Policy, Staff solicited written quotations from three qualified
vendors with all three vendors responding. Sharrock Electric submitted the lowest bid
and met all specification requirements. Sharrock Electric has provided this commodity to
the City in the past and has performed satisfactorily. Attached for review is a tabulation
of bids.
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the traffic foundations from Sharrock
Electric in the total amount of $18,150.00.
