SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE
OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY HARDWARE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider a resolution authorizing the purchase of hardware for the
information technology system from AT&T Solutions c/o AnyWare, Inc. in the amount of
$54,396.34. A copy of the bid tabulation listing the equipment and pricing is attached for
review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in accounts:
325-48860-101-06-0008 (Lease Fund/Mach & Equip/Information Technology).. $44,547.80
325-42281-101-06-0007 (Lease Fund/Apparatus and Tools/Info Technology) ... $ 9,848.54
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is for various Cisco equipment as listed on the attached bid tabulation. The
Cisco 4510 ethernet switch will be used at the new IT Data Center to link all the major
facilities together that will be connected by the new fiber project. This unit will route
data/phone traffic between Library, Police, Service Center, Central Fire, and City Hall/IT.
This switch is a modular unit which will allow for future upgrades and expansion.
The 13 Cisco 2950 ethernet switches are for replacement of switches that have been in
service since 1997. This will help with performance issues and future reliability of the
networks at City Hall and Police.
This purchase will be made under the State of Texas Government Code 791.025 Interlocal
Cooperation Contracts that states a local government that purchases goods and services
under this section satisfies the requirement of the local government to seek competitive
bids for the purchase of the goods and services. Under this code, a formal bid process and
advertisement is not required.

Under the above code, the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR)
established contracts with various contractors for information technology equipment.
Because of the amount of this purchase, Staff solicited four quotations from contracts
awarded by DIR to obtain the best price for the equipment requested. AT&T Solutions
through AnyWare, Inc. provided the best total price that met the, requested specifications.
A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for review.
Staff recommends approval of a contract to AT&T Solutions through AnyWare, Inc. for the
purchase of the Cisco equipment in the total amount of $54,396.34.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNATE TO PURCHASE
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT THROUGH
THE STATE OF TEXAS INTERLOCAL COOPERATION
CONTRACT PROGRAM AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of
Texas and as such is empowered by Texas Local Government Code Section 791.025 (c)
to make purchases through contracts established by the State of Texas Department of
Information Resources; and
WHEREAS, the State of Texas Department of Information Resources have
established various contracts for information technology equipment that satisfies the
requirement of the local government to seek competitive bids for the purchase of goods
and services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, has an established cooperative
purchasing agreement with the State of Texas and the City wishes to utilize established
contracts for the following information technology equipment:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of the information technology equipment in the total amount of $54,396.34.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designate, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of the information technology equipment.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 1st day of November, 2005.
