SUBJECT: CONSIDER A RESOLUTION DECLARING FAUXCADES INC.
AN ONLY SOURCE FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN
CONCIERGE/INFORMATION BOOTH AT THE GAYLORD
HOTEL
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to declare Fauxcades, Inc. a sole
source provider for the construction of a Convention and Visitors Bureau concierge and
information booth at the Gaylord Hotel in the total amount of $17,640 and authorize staff
to execute said agreement and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are currently available in account 115-48860-350-1 (CVB/Machinery and
Equipment/Administration)
BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (a) (7) that provides a general
exemption from the bid process for purchases available from only one source.
Fauxcades, Inc. is the only contractor authorized by the Gaylord Hotel to provide this
type of construction in the convention center of the hotel.
The concierge and information booth will provide the City with the ability to distribute
Grapevine information to their convention attendees on a 24 hour, 7 day per week basis.
The design includes a circular configuration that can be divided into two separate units
when required.
Staff recommends approval of a contract to Fauxcades, Inc. in the total amount of
$17,640.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
CONCIERGE/INFORMATION BOOTH AT THE GAYLORD
HOTEL AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE
MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS
AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine is in need of constructing a concierge/information
booth at the convention center of the Gaylord Hotel; and
WHEREAS, Fauxcades, Inc. is the only contractor authorized by the Gaylord Hotel
to construct the concierge/information booth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the
construction of the concierge/information booth by Fauxcades, Inc. for a total not to
exceed $17,640.00.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 15th day of November, 2005.
