APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF FITNESS EQUIPMENT FOR
THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY CENTER
City Council to consider approval of the purchase of fitness equipment for the Community
Activity Center from CommFit, Inc. in the total amount of $21,900.00.

BACKGROUND:
Staff solicited three written quotations for this purchase. House Bill 197 raised the formal bid
limit requirement from $15,000 to $25,000. City Purchasing Policy requires at least three
written quotations for purchases between $3,000 and $25,000. Advertisements are not
required.
This contract involves the purchase of various types of weight training equipment as listed in
the attached bid tabulation. The purchase is the first of a three-year process to replace the
weight equipment in the fitness room of the Community Activities Center. Most of the current
equipment is between seven and nine years old. The fitness room welcomes more than
70,000 users annually. The current weight equipment is starting to show wear and needs
replacement with new strength equipment technology. This equipment was approved for
purchase during the budget process for this fiscal year.
In accordance with City Purchasing policy, Staff solicited three written quotations for the
equipment. As shown in the attached bid tabulation, CommFit, Inc. provided the best pricing
and met the required specifications.
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the weight equipment from CommFit, Inc. in
the total amount of $21,900.00.
