RENEWAL OF ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR TREE
MAINTENANCE, BID NUMBER 120-2002
City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract to TruGreen ArborCare
(previously known as Trees, Inc.) for an annual contract for the purchase of tree
maintenance services. Contract expenditures will not exceed the annual budgeted
amount for this service. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
100-44540-312-3 General Fund/Parks Maintenance/Professional Services .... $75,000
BACKGROUND:
Council first approved this contract on March 5, 2002. The contract establishes fixed
pricing for tree maintenance services to be used on an as needed basis by the Parks
Department.
The bid requested unit pricing on different labor configurations for pruning, tree removal,
stump grinding and disposal. The specifications of the contract specified an initial one-
year period with an option to renew for three additional one-year periods. This is the
second renewal period. The lowest bid received was from TruGreen ArborCare
(previously known as Trees, Inc.). This vendor has performed satisfactorily during the
initial contract period and has agreed to renew the contract at no additional increase in
pricing.
Staff recommends renewal of a contract to Trees, Inc. for tree maintenance services.
