SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF BID NUMBER 152-2003, POLICE UNIFORM
CLEANING
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract to Metro Cleaners for police
uniform cleaning. Annual expenditures will be limited to the budgeted amount for this
service. A bid tabulation is attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this contract are available in the following accounts:
100-42220-209-2 General Fund/Uniform Operations/Clothing Supplies..$31,766.00
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a).
The purpose of this bid is to establish annual contract pricing for cleaning police
department uniforms.
This contract was first approved by Council on May 6, 2003. Bids were sent to nine local
Grapevine vendors. Metro Cleaners was the only vendor to return a bid. Three other
vendor bids were returned undeliverable due to no longer being in business. Metro
Cleaners performed this service for the past eight years and consistently met all
requirements of the contract. Other vendors contacted did not return bids due to
workloads. The initial bid document allowed for options to renew the contract for four
additional one year periods. This would be the first renewal period. Metro Cleaners has
agreed to renew the contact with no increase in pricing.
Staff recommends approval of an award to Metro Cleaners.
