APPROVAL OF BID 189-2004 FOR MOWING SERVICES, LAKE
PARKS
City Council to consider award of bid 189-2004 to TruGreen LandCare for an annual
contract to provide mowing services in and around the park areas at Lake Grapevine for
a total annual cost not to exceed $36,210.16. A bid tabulation is attached for review.

BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in
the Grapevine Sun on May 6, 2004 and May 13, 2004.
The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for mowing, weed -eating,
edging and litter removal services within the area leased from the Corps of Engineers.
The work is currently being performed by Goodwill Industries. As of June 30, Goodwill
will not be allowed to work for the City because they are not renewing their workmen's
compensation insurance. The properties include Katie's Wood's, Silver Lake, Sand Bass
Point/Trawick, McPherson Slough, Lakeview, Acorn Wood's and Meadowmere.
Bids were issued to seven vendors with two vendors responding. The lowest bid
received from TruGreen LandCare met all bid specifications and requirements. The
contract term will be for twelve months with four one-year options for extensions.
Staff recommends approval of a contract award to TruGreen LandCare.
