APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS FOR
THE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT
City Council to consider award of a contract to Consolidated Traffic Controls for the
purchase of traffic and pedestrian signals for the traffic department in the total amount of
$19,736.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in Account 178-78101-014 Capital Projects/Streets/Dove East/North
Main Construction
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is for traffic and pedestrian signals for the traffic department in connection
with Dove East and North Main construction. Council approved the budget for this
project during the budget process for procurement in the 2004 budget year.
House Bill 197 raised the formal bid limit requirement from $15,000 to $25,000. Because
the total amount was under the $25,000 threshold, an advertisement was not required.
In accordance with City Purchasing Policy bids were solicited on the City Internet portal
and five bids were received. As indicated in the bid tabulation, Consolidated Traffic
Controls was the lowest bid received and met all of the bid requirements.
Staff recommends approving the purchase from Consolidated Traffic Controls.
