APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF MOBILE RADIOS FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT
City Council to consider a resolution authorizing the purchase of 10 mobile radios for the
Police Department from Motorola, Inc. in the amount of $32,528.60.
FUNDING SOURCE:

BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source purchase allowed under the State of
Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252, Section 252.022 (7) (D). The radios can
only be used with existing Motorola equipment.
This purchase is for 10 Motorola XTS 5000 portable mobile emergency radios including
associated hardware and software. The radios will be used by the Police Department
and are specifically designed for mobile operations. The radios are needed as part of a
continuing effort to guarantee quality radio communications and as part of the radio
replacement program. The radios are replacements for those that are no longer
manufactured or supported by Motorola.
Staff recommends approval of the purchase from Motorola, Inc. in the total amount of
$32,528.60.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF MOTOROLA
PORTABLE RADIOS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY
ONE SOURCE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to purchase Motorola portable radios
including associated hardware and software from Motorola, Inc. as a sole source; and
WHEREAS, Motorola, Inc. is the sole provider of the following equipment:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of the listed equipment for a total not to exceed the annual budgeted amount of
$32,528.60.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of -its
passage.

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 19th day of October, 2004.
