SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF FITNESS EQUIPMENT
FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of a contract to Fitco for the purchase of fitness
equipment for the Community Activities Center in the total amount of $24,835.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in Accounts 325-48860-000-0-0007 (Lease Fund/Machinery and
Equipment) and 325-42281-000-0-0007 (Lease Fund/Apparatus and Tools)
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is for the delivery and installation of two treadmills, three exercise bicycles
and one elliptical machine for the fitness room at the Community Activities Center. The
purchase will include a three-year parts and labor warranty. Council approved the
budget for this project during the budget process for procurement in the 2005 budget
year.
House Bill 197 raised the formal bid limit requirement from $15,000 to $25,000. Because
the total amount of this purchase is under the $25,000 threshold, an advertisement was
not required. In accordance with city purchasing policy, bids were solicited and three
written bids were received. As indicated in the bid tabulation, Fitco was the lowest bid
received and met all of the bid requirements.
Staff recommends approving the purchase from Fitco in the total amount of $24,835.00.
