SUBJECT: ADOPT -A -TRAIL PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and staff recommend the City Council consider
approval of an agreement with the Lake Grapevine Runners and Walkers Club for the
Adopt -A -Trail program for a portion of the C. Shane Wilbanks Trail, from Dove Loop to
Dove Road and with Jean Titus for a portion of the C. Shane Wilbanks Trail, from Dove
Road to Kimball Road. Both applications are attached for Council review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Adopt -A -Trail signage would be placed at both ends of the limits on the C. Shane
Wilbanks Trail. The cost of the signs is approximately $150 and would come from the
Grounds Maintenance Account 100-42205-312-3.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed agreements are for a period of two years and require the applicants to
pick up litter a minimum of six times per year. The minimum distance is one-half mile
and both groups meet this requirement. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
approved the agreements at the November 20, 2003 meeting. If approved by the City
Council, the City will have a total of 26 active Adopt-A-Road/Park/Trail programs.

The City of Grapevine will work with the adopting group to determine the specific park
to be adopted. Typical tasks include fitter' pickup, turf maintenance, flower bed
planting and maintenance, playground maintenance, sign repair, etc.
