DOVE LOOP CHANGE ORDER # 1
City Council consider approving Change Order # 1 to the Dove Loop Construction
project in an amount of $ 181,252.77, authorize staff to execute said change order and
take any necessary action.
FUNDING:
Funds are currently available in the Minters Chapel Road Project account and the Dove
Loop account as follows:
Funds programmed in Minters Chapel Road contract - $ 78,576.00 in account number

BACKGROUND:
Change Order # 1 addresses three specific areas of the project.
1. The contractor has provided us a cost to excavate the Cottonwood Branch
Channel between Minters Chapel road and BS 114 L. This work was initially to
be performed by the Minters Chapel Road contractor and was included in the
contract price. Coordination issues with the construction activities and AGT have
delayed the work until now. The Minters Road Contractor has completed the
project and is not interested in performing this work.
The price proposed by the Dove Loop contractor for this excavation work is
slightly less than that in the Minters Chapel Road contract and will be funded from
the Minters Chapel Road project. The excavation work will be removed from the
Minters Chapel Road contract with the final cleanup change order.
Cost $ 67,144.87
2. Staff is proposing to add the widening and reconstruction of Shadybrook Lane
from Dove Loop to Scribner Street to the Dove Loop project. The work was not in
the original bid documents due to uncertainty of actual project unit costs. The bid
price for the Dove Loop project were very favorable and sufficient funds are
available from the Dove Loop funds to undertake this addition.
Shadybrook Lane is currently a two lane asphalt roadway with roadside ditches.
The proposed improvements will convert the roadway segment to a wider
concrete roadway with underground drainage. This added width will benefit the
motoring public using the new connection to Dove Loop as well as the Service
Center operations with the large trucks and equipment using this route.
Cost $ 110,363.90
3. The change order also includes some minor modifications to the Traffic Signal
line items. Cost $ 3,744.00
Staff recommends approval.
