HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 12 - Surplus PropertyITEM 0 MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 16, 2003 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY RECOMMENDATION City Council to consider a resolution declaring the property listed in attachment "A" as surplus and/or salvage and authorize the sale through sealed bid or public auction. BACKGROUND This request is to approve a resolution for the sale of surplus property as listed in attachment "A". The City currently has several vehicles, equipment and/or other property deemed surplus due to budget fleet replacements, equipment age or condition and other surplus property no longer needed for City use. Staff has considered age, mileage, cost of operation and/or life to date maintenance costs when classifying property as surplus. The sale of surplus property is conducted through live or Internet auctions or by sealed bid. Staff recommends the approval of the resolution. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY SURPLUS AND/OR SALVAGE AND PROVIDING FOR THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE SALE OF SAID PROPERTY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, it has been determined that the City of Grapevine, Texas is in possession of items of surplus and/or salvage property; and WHEREAS, the procedure for notification of the owners of surplus and/or salvage property as outlined in the State of Texas statute has been met. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That all items described in attachment "A" are hereby declared surplus and/or salvage. Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to conduct the sale of said property. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage.
