APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
SELF -CHECKOUT EQUIPMENT FOR THE LIBRARY
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to declare Checkpoint Systems, Inc. a
sole source provider for the purchase of self -check equipment for the Library checkout
system. The total cost of this purchase is not to exceed $21,665.00.

Funding for this purchase is currently available in accounts:
177-48860-012-313 Cap. Project -General Fac./'OOA GO Bonds-Library/Mach. & Equip.
BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (A).
This purchase is for two Checkpoint Self -check stations for the public library.
The Library will be a beta testing site for the self -check machines which will allow
patrons to checkout their own compact discs and DVDs. This service will replace the
book and video self -checks that have been very popular with Library patrons. The City
will receive a $10,000 discount as a beta test site.
Staff recommends the purchase of the self -check machines from Checkpoint Systems,
Inc. for a total amount not to exceed $21,665.00.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF LIBRARY SELF
CHECK EQUIPMENT; DETERMINING THAT THE
EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to purchase self check equipment for the
Library checkout system; and
WHEREAS, Checkpoint Systems, Inc. is the sole provider of the self check
equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of self check equipment for a total not to exceed $21,665.00.
Section 3. That the City Manger, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said maintenance agreement.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 6th day of January, 2004.
