Home My WebLink AboutItem 03 - Aggregate and Road MaterialsMEMO TO: FROM MEETING DATE SUBJECT RECOMMENDATION: ITEM # .2 NNNNN- HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER (W JANUARY 6, 2004 APPROVAL OF BID NUMBER 175-2004, AGGREGATE AND ROAD MATERIALS - ANNUAL CONTRACT City Council to consider approval of an annual contract for the lowest and best bids meeting City specifications to the vendors listed below for aggregates and road materials to be ordered on an as needed basis. The bid tabulation is attached for review. FUNDING SOURCE: Annual contract expenditures will be limited to the annual budget amount approved for this service. BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in the Grapevine Sun on November 6, 2003 and November 13, 2003. The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for the purchase of various types of street material such as asphalt, concrete and cement as required by the Street Division to be purchased on an as needed basis. Bids were sent to 13 vendors with 10 vendors responding. All bids received met the specifications and requirements of the specified products. Because Staff believes the City can achieve additional savings by re -bidding items 4 and 7, it is recommended these items not be awarded at this time. All vendors 'no bid' item 6. Staff recommends approval of an annual contract for the remaining items as shown.
