SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF
UNIFORMS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE
RESOLUTION THAT RATIFIES THE INITIAL PURCHASE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of a contract to Lighthouse Uniforms as a sole source for
the purchase of Fire Department uniforms in the total amount of $19,623.15 and
approval of the resolution that ratifies the initial purchase.
FUNDING SOURCE:
100-42220-210-3 General Fund/Fire Operations/Clothing Supplies.............$19,623.15
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is being made as a sole source purchase in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (a) (7) (A) (D).
This procurement is for the purchase of 41 sets of class A uniforms for the Fire
Department. The uniform set includes caps, shirts, pants, coats and uniform
accessories.
Uniforms currently in use by the Fire Department were purchased directly from
Lighthouse Uniforms. Lighthouse is the uniform manufacturer. To insure the compatibility
of color and style, and to avoid obsolescence, Lighthouse Uniforms is the only supplier
that can match the current uniforms.
Staff recommends ratification of the purchase from Lighthouse Uniforms in the amount
of $19,623.15.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE RATIFICATION OF STAFF
PURCHASE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT UNIFORMS FOR THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND
DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine Fire Department is in need of purchasing new
uniforms; and
WHEREAS, Lighthouse Uniforms, Inc. furnished the original Fire Department
Uniforms and is the only source that can provide new uniforms that match the exact color
and style and to avoid the obsolesce of the uniforms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine ratifies and authorizes
the purchase of 41 uniform sets for a total not to exceed $19,623.15.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designate, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 20th day of April, 2004.
